• July 6th, Fourth of July (on the 6th) Fun at Leatherwood.  We’ve planned a full day of games, activities, and celebration! Highlight your summer, come and play.  Go head to head in some good old-fashioned competitions, hotdog-eating contest, hay stacking contest, three-legged race, greased watermelon race, tug-o-war, and much more.  Stick around and enjoy the parade!  Cookout foods and drinks will be on offer.  Fun starts 5pm and continues through ‘til 8pm.

• August 31st, Leatherwood’s Labor Day Blues. We’ve got the 3 B’s…blues, bluegrass and bbq.  6pm ‘til….  Make it an all-day affair and participate in the ‘Poker Run’.‘3rd’ Annual LW Poker Run’, an organized event where participants, on horseback, must visit five checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. The event has a time limit, however the participants are not timed—winning is purely a matter of chance.  Entry fee, prizes given, raffle.  The’ Run’ will begin at noon and will end at 3pm.  Awards ceremony to follow

• Nov 9th, End of Harvest Barn Dance – Local bands will come to Leatherwood Mountains to play NC contra music.  Our covered pavilion will be set up for an evening of dancing.  Cover charge $10 with a can of food for the hungry, $15 if you don’t contribute food.  All donations will go to Samaritans Kitchen of Wilkes.  Refreshments will be served.

Leatherwood Author Releases First Book of New Series

Inspired by her seven horses, three cats, two dogs and miniature donkey (many of which are rescues), author and animal rights activist, S.L.
