These two guys (playing music together since 1975) bring decades of musical experience to each performance. Their music falls into the Americana genre because any given performance might include country, folk, bluegrass, swing, blues, celtic, old time, or classic rock ‘n roll. And if you catch them in the right mood, they might even play something from the east Russian Steppe. Eclectic?………yes! Fun?…….you betcha! As much as this duo likes playing something you’ve never heard before, they also like to play the familiar tunes that all audiences love. And with their extensive repertoire, they can usually play what the audience wants to hear, at least within the acoustic Americana framework.
The two formed the band Backstreet in 1985. Backstreet still performs as a trio and 4-piece for private parties, weddings, and other events. Backstreet has performed from the MerleFest stage to as far away as England and Scotland. But whether they are perfoming for hundreds, or for just a handfull of listeners, it is easy to see that Roger and Jeff are playing for the pure joy of making music, and that joy comes across to the listener.
