This event is a large scale event that is perfect for families and anyone who loves watching live music, especially country and bluegrass music. In year’s past, performers such as Allison Kraus and country great Loretta Lynn have wowed crowds and provided quality entertainment.
In the fall, the annual Brushy Mountain Apple Festival takes place in October and features many different types of crafts, foods and of course, Brushy Mountain apples.
The John A. Walker Center is the performing arts venue in the area and regularly features plays, performances and hosts many different kinds of artists throughout the year. The Walker Auditorium and Community Center is an excellent place to learn more about the performing arts in Wilkesboro and shows that are planned throughout the year.
Also, in Boone and Blowing Rock, the Hayes Performing Arts Center is the current venue for the Blowing Rock Stage Company and regularly runs a variety of performances throughout the year.
For those looking to enjoy browsing art galleries other types of craft galleries, look no further than the galleries and shops in Wilkesboro. The Wilkesboro Art Gallery is located in North Wilkesboro and is open free to the public and features many educational exhibits monthly. Also a short drive away from the area are many galleries and craft shops in Ashe County in West Jefferson, as well as downtown Boone and Blowing Rock.
