You can enjoy fishing at the Leatherwood Mountains Resort ponds this summer without needing a North Carolina fishing license. In our ponds, you will find rainbow trout and small-mouth bass. We also offer guests a 1-mile stretch of NC Hatchery-supported trout waters. You will need to get a North Carolina fishing license with a trout stamp to enjoy these Game Warden-regulated waters. It will be worth it, though, since the area has some of the finest trout streams in the state.
Guests can also beat the North Carolina summer heat with a tubing ride down Elk Creek that runs through the Leatherwood Mountains Resort campground. Enjoy pure tranquility in peaceful waters with a couple of gentle rapids. There are tube rentals and release information in our Visitor Center.
